Stella Rooflight manufacture a conservation rooflight for flat roofs

Flat Conservation Rooflights

A genuine flat conservation rooflight design

Our conservation roof window design can be adapted for use on a flat or shallow pitched roof application.

Using the same 316L stainless steel frame as our pitched rooflight design, means that it is ideal for locations where water may collect as it will not rust like a mild or carbon steel alternative.

FAQs
What is a flat conservation rooflight?
A flat conservation rooflight is a roof window designed for flat or shallow pitched roofs, combining a traditional conservation appearance with modern performance. Stella Rooflight adapts its conservation rooflight design for flat roof applications while maintaining slim profiles and heritage detailing.
Can conservation rooflights be used on flat roofs?
Yes, conservation rooflights can be specifically designed for flat or low-pitch roofs. Stella Rooflight manufactures bespoke flat conservation rooflights that retain the same design principles as pitched versions while being suitable for horizontal installation.
What is the difference between a flat and pitched conservation rooflight?
The main difference is how the rooflight is installed and how it manages water. Flat conservation rooflights are designed for horizontal or shallow pitch applications, whereas pitched rooflights are installed directly into sloping roofs. Both can maintain the same traditional aesthetic and slim sightlines.
Why is stainless steel important for flat rooflights?
Flat rooflights are more exposed to standing water, so corrosion resistance is critical. Stella Rooflight uses 316L stainless steel frames, which will not rust like mild steel alternatives, making them ideal for flat roof applications.
Are flat conservation rooflights suitable for listed buildings?
Yes, flat conservation rooflights are designed with heritage and listed buildings in mind. Their traditional appearance, slim profiles and bespoke sizing make them suitable for projects where maintaining the character of the building is essential.
Do flat conservation rooflights provide good levels of natural light?
Yes, flat conservation rooflights are designed with slim sightlines to maximise the amount of natural daylight entering the space. This makes them particularly effective for bringing light into extensions, kitchens and living areas.
Are flat conservation rooflights made to measure?
Yes, all Stella flat conservation rooflights are bespoke and manufactured to individual size requirements. Clients can also choose glazing specifications, colours and internal finishes to suit the project.
Can flat conservation rooflights be fixed or opening?
Flat conservation rooflights are available as both fixed and opening units. Opening options can include manual or electric operation, depending on the size and requirements of the installation.
What glazing options are available for flat conservation rooflights?
Flat conservation rooflights can be specified with high-performance glazing, including self-cleaning and solar control glass. Stella Rooflight offers both double and triple glazed options, along with laminated inner panes for additional safety and security.
Do flat conservation rooflights still maintain a traditional appearance?
Yes, flat conservation rooflights are designed to retain the traditional appearance associated with heritage rooflights, while incorporating modern materials and glazing technology. This allows them to suit period properties while delivering contemporary performance.
